From 1986 until April 2021, Chanel issued sequential 6-, 7-, and 8-digit hologram serial stickers paired with matching authenticity cards. In May 2021, Chanel retired serial stickers at series 31xxxxxx in favour of an interior metal plaque stamped with an 8-character alphanumeric code and embedded NFC chip.

Primary Counterfeit Red Flags for Chanel
- Any 8-digit hologram sticker starting with 32, 33, 34, or higher (Chanel ended numeric stickers at 31xxxxxx in spring 2021).
- Over-used counterfeit card numbers circulating on fake factories: 10239481, 11834128, 9745321, 12849103.
- Missing slashed zero on 7-digit (6xxxxxx+) or 8-digit stickers, or missing X-cut tamper slits on post-2000 stickers.
